Rex Hunt, a huge name in football for over 50 years in Victoria. Born in 1949 in Mentone, he played 202 senior games for Richmond, Geelong and St Kilda between 1968 & 1978. His moves were caused by his professional career as a policeman, where he reached the rank of Sergeant by the age of 30. He was a dual premiership player at Richmond (’69 & ’73).
After retirement he became the most popular commentator at 3AW and hosted footy shows on TV. He had a reputation for making up unique nicknames for footballers.
He is still hosting a post match talk-back radio show on 3AW.
In 1981 he was giving regular fishing reports on radio and quickly became Australia’s most well known journalist and personality for fishing on TV, maintaining that position for over 20 years. He is a dedicated conversationalist and tireless worker for the betterment of fishing.
He has also had his fair share of controversies over his career.
