Roy Hay, born in Scotland, attended Glasgow and Oxford Universities, and then taught at East Anglia University and Glasgow University before he moved to Australia. He is an Honorary Fellow at Deakin University where he taught for 25 years on a variety of subjects and disciplines.
With a focus on soccer he has been a journalist, player, coach, manager, club official and referee. In 1985 he provided assistance to Scotland’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson when Scotland played The Socceroos in Australia in a World Cup qualifier. That match was pivotal and since then his allegiance has been with Australia.
His grandfather captained Celtic to six League titles and Roy wrote his biography. He has also written a number of other books, many related to soccer in Australia.
Since retirement he has been a partner in Sports & Editorial Services Australia which has been involved with the publication of 17 books in recent years.
