Jack Hawkins played 182 games for Geelong from 1973 to 1981. He was born in 1954 and has
lived and farmed in Finley in the Riverina for most of his life. He went to school at Melbourne
Grammar and was High Jump Champion which no doubt contributed to the nickname
“Jumping”, which was attributed to his vertical leap in taking high marks.
He was the highlight of the Geelong backline for more than a decade and represented Victoria
from 1979.
Jack is in the Geelong Hall of Fame and is as famous now, for being the father of Geelong Full
Forward Tom Hawkins.
He has recently retired from a nine year long stint as President of the Murray Football League.
Along with John Harms this should be another very entertaining Footy Almanac lunch.
