David Parkin was a premiership player, playing 211 games for Hawthorn. He then coached Hawthorn for 3 years from 1977, including a premiership, before succeeding
Percy as Carlton coach in 1981. He coached Carlton to 2 premierships over the next 5 years, before moving to Fitzroy for 3 years. He returned to Carlton for another 10 years producing another premiership before retiring at the end of 2000. He then returned to Hawthorn as Director of Football.
David has received the Order of Australia, and is in the AFL Hall of Fame and the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.
David is an inspirational and motivational public speaker. He has a Bachelor of Education and has done much lecturing. He has developed and lectured in a Sports Academic tertiary degree course, and he has written over a dozen books. David has also had a prominent career in the media.
He will be interviewed by local North Fitzroy Arms regular John Harms, of The Footy Almanac.
